The moment you throw starry tantrums, you are part of history - Shubhangi Atre Poorey

Shubhangi Atre Poorey
Shubhangi Atre Poorey is quite happy with the way her SAB TV show Chidiya Ghar is progressing. “At a time when shows shut down in a jiffy, our story on animal attributes in humans continues to perform at a consistent level. We have a loyal fan following.” Shubhangi who had replaced Shilpa Shinde as the older bahu Koyal around a year back did not find it much tough to make her own niche. “Since I had not followed the show I had made it clear to the creatives that I will interpret Koyal in my own way. I have also tried to make the character less aggressive than before. Koyal is now sweeter and full of childlike innocence. She yet needs to mature up.” Here Shubhangi who was first noticed with Kasturi says, “I have also tried to add my inputs to the character from time to time. Luckily they have been accepted by the creatives as well. I am also getting good responses from the public. Recently when I went around for Navratri, I was very warmly welcomed by one and all.” Looking ahead, Shubhangi who has already played positive as well as negative (Havan) characters and is now operating on comedy will want to try her hands at a love story next. She is also keen on doing a dance show. “I have learnt classical dance for the past 10 years. So I would love to do Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and of course Nach Baliye, if my non-dancer hubby can learn the craft a bit. I keep asking him to start shaking his leg.” Besides TV, Shubhangi also has big screen dreams. “I would like to do some offbeat or women oriented themes. It is very difficult for an outsider to get a masala film, as they are reserved for industry kids. Very few TV actors have survived the long run in films, as most come and go.” In closing, Shubhangi who has been around for eight long years says, “The trick is to be a good human. The moment you throw starry tantrums, you are part of history.” She also accepts that there are few bad apples in the industry who mistreat women. “Few did try to act smart with me. I dealt with them through a combination of tact and also by screaming out loud.” Shubhangi, we hope you go a long way as an actor!!!
