For a movie that is being advertised as a family entertainer, we couldn’t really pinpoint a single scene in the trailer of Lucky Kabootar that one can watch with his or her family. Dangerously treading on the lines of Grand Masti, Lucky Kabootar is yet another sex comedy that seeks to induce humour and subsequent laughter through sexual innuendos. Sample this. It’s a funeral and a dignitary who comes to offer his condolences to the near and dear ones of the departed soul ends up saying – I have come to offer my homage and condom.” Does anyone feel like laughing? May be yes or maybe not. Well, given the fact that Grand Masti did roaring business; we feel Lucky Kabootar too could end up raking in some moolah. The only problem, as we see it, lies with the producers who are running coy from advertising it as a sex-comedy and are instead calling it as a family entertainer.
The film recently launched its music at a glitzy ceremony. The function though was not without its gaffes. For starters, the launch was delayed because Chief Guest Sajid Nadiadwala took ages to arrive at the venue all because of Mumbai’s traffic. Ditto for its lead actress Shraddha Das who was also arrived fashionably late due to Mumbai traffic. In contrast, the lead actor of the movie, Eijaz Khan was already present at the venue well before time and was seen welcoming guests warmly. Wonder how only the so called big celebs are affected by Mumbai’s traffic. The saving grace was the arrival of Priyanka Chopra who not only arrived on time but also looked drop dead gorgeous in an elegant sari that she was wearing.
The music launch later in the evening saw a dance performance by Eijaz Khan who looked a bit stiff and admitted later that he could have done much better. Music director Santokh Singh, who has given the musical score for this movie, rendered a soulful Sufi song much to the delight of the audience. After a few more dance performance, the music album was finally launched after Sajid Nadiadwala arrived. Also present for the launch were veteran comedian Johnny Lever, lyricist Sameer among others.
The film has a total of five tracks. “Dj tee gulabo nachdi” rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan, Santokh Singh and Big Sinn, “Tumba Bole Yara Da” sung by Mika Singh and Bhavya Pandit, a qawwalli number “Haal Da Marham” sung by Kamaal Khan and Santokh Singh, the romantic “Main Nahi Rehna Tere Naal” sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan and finally a Punjabi number “Kripa Babe Di” rendered by Labh Janjua.
Co-produced by Anita Raj Kanwar, wife of the late Raj Kanwar, Lucky Kabootar is all set to release on 6t December 2013.
