It was Salman Khan who suggested that I start my acting career with TV - Khushwant Walia

Khushwant Walia who is seen essaying the role of Rubel in the Star Plus show Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara (Rajshri Productions) began his career by becoming an Assistant Director to Siddique (well known south director) in the superhit 2010 Salman Khan flick Bodyguard. Talking about this experience of his, Khushwant says, “It was a superb learning experience. Kareena Kapoor is a very professional actor. She would always report on time and was very friendly with all on the set. Salman on the other hand is very spontaneous. As an AD, I would wonder how he can take the script to a completely different level. He could not do much with action sequences, except providing a few inputs, but when it came to scenes and dancing, he really improvised a lot.” Khushwant did not pay too much attention to the media charge that big stars indulge in back seat driving as far as direction is concerned. “This is not possible, as Siddiuqe sir carries twenty years of experience. Considering that Salman has given some of the biggest blockbusters, there used to be discussions when two such great minds met, but it was a very healthy exchange and no one ever forced their views on the other. Big stars also know what works for them; so they are bound to collaborate with the makers for success.” On his personal interaction with Salman, the actor avers, “I would talk to him a lot and in fact it was Salman who suggested that I start my acting career with television. He had even pointed to the fact that he was himself doing a TV show (Bigg Boss). He also told me not to be under the illusion that the small screen is an inferior medium.” “During shoots he would just chat up with me enquiring about my plans. Not only Salman, even his sister Alivira mam and her husband Atul Agnihotri, who were co-producers of Bodyguard became my very good friends. I am still in touch with the latter and he also watches my show from time to time and gives me advice.” Nice to know this piece of fact, Khushwant!!
