MUMBAI: Soniya Bansal, the actress who has charmed audiences in both Hindi and Telugu cinema along with numerous popular music videos, has been making headlines once again—this time not for her onscreen presence, but for her silence. After a brief yet talked-about stint on Bigg Boss Season 17, where she was the first contestant to be evicted, Soniya seems to have taken a step back from the limelight.
In a heartfelt conversation with TellyChakkar, the actress opened up about her time away from the public eye, personal challenges, and whether she’s bidding farewell to the entertainment industry altogether.

Where have you been lately, Soniya? Fans have noticed your absence from the screen.
Yes, I’ve been quite under the radar lately. Honestly, I’ve just been at home, focusing on myself and trying to realign my priorities. I came to realise how important self-awareness is—truly understanding your own strengths and knowing how to navigate through difficult situations. Once I recognised that awareness was something I was lacking, I made a conscious decision to start working on myself, mentally and emotionally.
There have been rumours about you quitting the entertainment industry. Is there any truth to that?
To be honest, there was a point where I considered stepping away from everything. I had ongoing disagreements with my family which caused a lot of emotional stress. Eventually, I made the difficult decision to leave home in order to find clarity. That period was eye-opening. It made me reflect on not only my personal relationships but also my journey in the industry.
I’m not ruling out a return. If meaningful roles come my way ones that carry a positive message and don’t mislead the youth I would definitely consider taking them up. But right now, my focus is on finding purpose and continuing to grow as a person.
It sounds like this has been quite a transformational time for you. What’s the biggest lesson you've learned?
That awareness and mental strength are everything. It’s easy to get caught up in chaos—whether it’s personal life or professional struggles—but if you are self-aware, you learn how to pull yourself out of it. That, in itself, can change your entire perspective on life.
While she may be away from the arc lights for now, Soniya Bansal’s journey is far from over. Her honest reflections and determination to find deeper meaning are proof that sometimes stepping away is the first step towards a stronger comeback.
