Why Sonali Bendre and Tabu were dressed alike yesterday in court

Actresses Sonali Bendre and Tabu made an appearance before a Jodhpur court for their identification in the blackbuck poaching case of 1998. The dress code adhered by the two actresses was interesting to note yesterday. Both Sonali and Tabu were dressed in an ethereal white salwar kameez with matching white dupattas. Now this is the kind of dress one would pick up for a massive discount from a whole sale market. We wonder why the two actresses were dressed alike. Was it an attempt to hoodwink others? In fact, eyewitness Poonam Chand whose cross examination was being conducted by the defense could only identify Tabu and not Sonali Bendre. Public prosecutor Upendra Sharma too objected to these actresses being produced in the court unexpectedly and was quoted saying, “Both the actresses were produced in the court in a manner that they look identical and that too without bringing this to the notice of the court and the prosecution. I pray to produce them in the court in proper manner so that we can examine the witness in their presence” Well, both these actresses identical sartorial sense surely does make them look similar to the untrained eye.
