Sony TV's Sneha Rajani thwarts rumours of Nandini going off-air

Sony Entertainment Television political drama Desh Ki Beti Nandini never really took off at the ratings front. Hence there has always been speculation regarding its fate. Some time back there were news reports floating around that the channel has finally taken a call on this Rashmi Sharma Telefilms’ production and might replace it with the Jaya Bachchan co-produced (with Endemol) show Vasundhara in the coming immediate weeks. However, when we spoke to SET Business Head Sneha Rajani she rubbished all news as rumours: “We don’t react on rumours. As far as we know Nandini continues to air.” When asked about the ratings (0.7), she said, “The lead show has grown and will continue to grow (0.5-0.7 TVR).” She also denied the talk that may be one of the reasons for the show not doing well could be the story not dealing with contemporary political themes. “Politics is very contemporary. Just look around you. Your own country,” said Sneha. When contacted lead actor Rafi Malik said, “I don’t think Nandini will go off-air at least till the IPL. We are safe as long as we rate between 0.6 -0.8. Agreed these numbers are low but then the GRPs of Sony itself is quite less. We are second lowest on the GRP list, just above Sahara One.” So as of now, fans of Nandini can continue watching the show!!!
