Akanksha Juneja, the lead of Sahara One’s Hamari Beti Raaj Karegi, talks to TellyChakkar, about fitness and diet.
Personal fitness mantra: Have smaller meals throughout the day. It helps you stay fit and energetic and not lazy and drowsy.
Personal diet mantra: I rely a lot on fruits, milk, juices and adequate amount of carbs with every meal.
Exercise routine: I work out whenever I get time.
Is food the elixir of life? Food is important but I feel love is the elixir of life.
Are you a foodie? Yes, I am.
Are you a vegetarian or non-vegetarian? I am an eggeterian.
Favourite cuisine: Rajma chawal and kadi chawal.
Favourite dish: I like everything except bitter gourd.
Favourite restaurant: Chandni Chowk as I like their sarson ka saag and makki ki roti.
A must on my breakfast table: I eat everything.
Sugar or sugar-free for my tea/coffee: Sugar for it keeps your skin glowing.
Lunch generally consists of: Chapati, dal, one sabzi and curd.
For high-tea you would prefer: Anything again.
Dinner generally consists of: Fruits, some curd and some sprouts.
Dessert delights: Gulab jamun that my Nani maa makes, gajar ka
halwa by my mother and rasmalai.
One thing I can't resist: There are two chocolates and ice-creams. I love both equally.
My favourite drink (non-alcoholic): Pineapple juice
My favourite drink (alcoholic): Red wine
Most unusual dish I've tasted: Once I was trying to cook yellow dal but when I opened the cooker it looked a lot like suji ka halwa.
Experiment with food: I love experimenting and this is my mother’s gift to me. She loves experimenting with food and now I keep doing it all the time too.
On the streets, I love to have: Pani Puri
Do you cook? Yes I do
Favourite receipe: Chapati roll
Ingredients: Flour, water, ghee, black pepper, salt, chilli powder
Method: Knead dough out of flour and a bit of salt and water. Roll out a chapatti,
fry it on both sides, put some ghee, a pinch of black pepper, chilli powder, salt, roll it and it’s ready to eat. It’s tasty as well as easy to make.
