Makkal Iyakkam, a Thalapathy Vijay office bearer, has filed a police complaint alleging that popular actor Vijay was thrown a chappal when he visited the DMDK headquarters to pay his last respects to Captain Vijayakanth, who passed away on December 28.

Numerous well-known Tamil people attended the funeral, which was held in Chennai. Among the celebrities in attendance at the funeral was Vijay. A saddened Vijay could be seen navigating the crowd to pay his final respects in a video that became popular on X, the former name of Twitter. Upon meeting Vijaykanth's family, he expressed his sympathy.

The actor was violently accosted as he tried to leave, and the cops had to help him get through. An anonymous male was also seen in a video tossing a slipper at him. Vijay avoided the blow. The district president of TVMI South Chennai submitted the complaint. The complaint requests that the police prosecute the person who threw the chappal at Vijay, claiming that it injured Vijay's admirers.
