MUMBAI: On Tuesday, June 11, popular Kannada actor Darshan, popularly known as "Rowdy of Sandalwood," was taken into custody in relation to a murder case. Media sources state that Darshan was detained in Myrusu in relation to the death of Renuka Swamy, who was accused of sending actress Pavithra Gowda offensive texts.

The manager of Kannada star Darshan Thoogudeepa, Sridhar, who oversaw Darshan's farmhouse in Bengaluru, tragically committed suicide on the property in an unexpected turn of events. A suicide note and a video message left by Sridhar were discovered next to his corpse. He begged authorities not to involve his loved ones in the situation and gave the excuse of great loneliness in both the note and the video. He made it quite evident that he was the only one to blame for his demise.
The cops have now started an investigation to figure out if there was a connection between the Renuka Swamy murder case and Sridhar’s suicide. This news was just made public one day earlier, revealing that Mallikarjun, Darshan's previous manager, had not been seen since 2018. Before going missing, Mallikarjun is said to have stolen Rs 2 crore from the actor.
When Darshan was taken into custody on June 12th, following his identification as a suspect in the Renuka Swamy murder investigation, his legal issues became more serious. Renuka allegedly sent indecent messages to actress Pavithra Gowda, who is Darshan's girlfriend, starting the incident. This infuriated Darshan, who supposedly then hatched a scheme to deal with Renuka. According to reports, Darshan gave several of his supporters a sizable sum of money in exchange for their abduction, abuse, and eventual death of Renuka. Renuka's body was dumped in a Bengaluru drain after she was murdered.
Meanwhile Pavithra Gowda is also implicated in the case and is currently in jail. Sridhar’s suicide has added another layer of tragedy to the already complicated case.
