MUMBAI: A Delhi Court has reportedly issued a summons to filmmaker Leena Manimekalai and others over 'Kaali' row.
A case was also filed against the filmmaker for depicting the Hindu goddess in an ‘uncalled manner’ and for the poster and promotional video of the film after Leena had shared the poster of her upcoming film in which she had shown goddess Kali smoking a cigarette and holding LGBTQ flag.
According to media reports, the plaintiff has filed the suit for permanent and mandatory injunction against Leena and others. According to the plaintiff, the poster of the film hurts religious sentiments and is against the basic principles of morality and decency. Reportedly, the court has listed the matter for further hearing on August 6.
Meanwhile, last week, Leena had said that she does not feel safe "anywhere at this moment". The filmmaker is facing several FIRs following outrage over the poster of 'Kaali'.
"It feels like the whole nation - that has now deteriorated from the largest democracy to the largest hate machine - wants to censor me. I do not feel safe anywhere at this moment," the filmmaker wrote on social media while sharing an interview she has given to the British newspaper.
