MUMBAI :Well known Tamil actress V Vasantha who played mother characters in various films has passed away in Chennai. The veteran actress was 82 and died due to age related issues.

The late actress gained immense popularity for playing the mother of Rajinikanth in the film 'Ranuva Veeran' and also Sridevi's mother in the film 'Moondram Pirai.' The Tamil film industry poured in their messages of condolences to the veteran and her family.

V Vasantha was also a theater actress who acted opposite Jaishankar in 'Iravum Pagalum', which was her acting debut and in 'Karthikai Deepam' opposite actor Ashokan.

V Vasantha has been part of over 100 films in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam language films. The actress’s funeral was held today.
