MUMBAI : Samantha Ruth Prabhu has displayed her skills within the Telugu and Tamil film industries. Samantha is expected to expand her artistic horizons soon as she sets to make her debut in Malayalam and is one of the best actresses in South Indian cinema. Mammootty and Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon are allegedly collaborating on a Malayalam movie.
Gautham Menon reportedly decided to cast Samantha as the movie's female lead. Samantha has previously worked with Gautham Menon on the enormously successful film Ye Maaya Chesave, in which the actress made her first appearance alongside her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya.
It's also noteworthy that earlier this year, Samantha and Mammootty appeared together on TV in an advertisement for a financial services company. Additionally, it's said that Samantha replaced Nayanthara, who was originally cast in the untitled Malayalam movie starring Mammootty when she left for unknown reasons.
Mammootty is expected to arrive on the sets on June 20, and Samantha is set to start shooting in Chennai on June 15. According to reports, the film would be an action thriller.
One of Samantha’s peers in the Telugu film industry, Anushka Shetty is also foraying into Malayalam cinema with Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer, a fantasy thriller film. Krithi Shetty is also doing a Malayalam film Ajayante Randam Moshanam.
Samantha most recently starred with Vijay Deverakonda in the slightly successful box office film Kushi. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan will next be seen together in the Indian adoption of Citadel.
Citadel: Honey Bunny, directed by Raj and DK, is a visually appealing story set against the bright backdrop of the 1990s that combines the vibrant aspects of a spying action thriller with the heartwarming appeal of a love story. Samantha will also be starring in Bangaram, in which she portrays a strong character. A first look at this picture has left a lasting effect on viewers.
