MUMBAI : While Kuttey didn’t make any buzz at the box office, some South releases have been running well. Last week, many South films hit the big screens like Varisu, Thunivu, Waltair Veerayya, and Veera Simha Reddy.
Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu (Tamil) was released on 11th January 2023. The film’s Hindi version hit the big screens on 13th January, and in Telugu, it was released on 14th January 2023. While in Tamil it is doing well, it has been doing decent business at the box office in Telugu as well. Meanwhile, in Hindi, it has received a lukewarm response. In seven days, Varisu has collected Rs. 119.8 crores (all languages) at the box office in India. It looks like the movie will easily beat the lifetime collection of Vijay’s last film Beast.

Another Tamil biggie, Thunivu, which was released on 11th January 2023, is quite behind in compassion to Varisu. The Ajith Kumar starrer has collected Rs. 87.75 crores (Tamil / Telugu) at the Indian box office. It has even failed to reach the 100 crore club.
In the Telugu industry also two biggies clashed last weekend, Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja starrer Waltair Veerayya and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy. While the latter took a bumper opening at the box office, in the long run the former has done better business. In five days, Waltair Veerayya has collected Rs. 100.35 crores (Telugu / Hindi), and Veera Simha Reddy has collected Rs. 80.95 crores.
Talking about Kuttey, the movie has crashed at the box office and reportedly has collected around Rs. 4-5 crore in five days. It’s a disaster.
