Sufi <em>Gharana</em>’s Ali Akbar bids adieu to its audience from<em> Junoon…</em> as he gets eliminated this week. His mentor Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who was not too happy with the decision asked, <em>“yeh sangeet ki jung hai ya deshon ki,</em> (Is it a war between the singers or nations?). India gave love but no votes.”

<em> Junoon… Kuchh Kar Dikhaaneka</em> is taking a new twist and a turn this weekend. It’s been heard that few of the Pakistani singers on the show are facing visa problems. Ali Abbas one of the singers from the<em> Sufi gharana </em> will not be able to perform due to his visa problem. “These participants from Pakistan have been facing some visa problem. Thus, Ali will not be able to perform this time on <em> Junoon</em>,” informs the source.

<em> Junoon</em> on NDTV Imagine has started with a bang. With judges like Ila Arun, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Anand Raj Anand the show is attracting many viewers. But like other reality shows there won’t be any drama on this one says Ila Arun. “There is no space for gimmicks on <em> Junoon</em>. We don’t need to create unnecessary drama to get attention of the audience,” says Ila Arun. “This show is purely about music and there is no place for any drama as we are here to entertain,” she adds

By now all of us know that Hrithik Roshan is a ‘goodwill ambassador’ of the reality show <em> Junoon </em> on NDTV Imagine. Though ofcourse most of us are flummoxed by this new trend of having a ‘goodwill ambassador’ on a reality show. To understand what the superstar’s role play is we spoke to a few people. And these sources informed us that Hrithik is a <em> sutradhar</em> on the show. “He will not be promoting but supporting the show. He’ll be giving the audience deep knowledge about the format along side he will also be boosting the morale of the participants,” says the source.

Hrithik will lend his support to the participants of the Sufi, Folk and Filmy genres on the show.

<em> Antakshari…</em> that’s the word that comes to your mind when you hear the name Annu Kapur. He makes a come back with Gajendra Singh’s <em> Junoon</em>on NDTV Imagine. He is roped in to play the single host. “I took Annu as I have faith in him,” says Ganjendra. Why Annu and not Shaan? “Shaan has become the face of <em>VOI (Voice of India)</em>. That’s his brand. Now I want to make Annu the face of <em> Junoon</em>. I think he will do justice to this show and ultimately touch the sky,” he adds.

After Dhoom Macha De, NDTV Imagine has made way for yet another music based reality show produced by Gajendrra Siingh’s Saibaba Telefilms. But unlike the running on which has celebrity singers as participants, the new show titled as <em> Junoon </em> will have common man participating in it. The USP of the show is in the individual talent of the contestants and also that the audience will be voting for a genre of music and not for individual singers.

The success of Himesh Reshammiya as an actor has raised the hopes of other singers that they too might be able to don the hero's hat. Taking a cue from Himesh is former <em> Indian Idol</em> Abhijeet Sawant. The buzz goes that the singer has already signed for a film. When asked about it Abhijeet replies, "This is news to me. However, I wouldn't mind trying my hand at acting. If any good role comes my way, I wouldn't hesitate in taking it up."
