Supreme Court stays release of Zanjeer 2

It is well-known that on the 3rd of this month, the Bombay High Court had given its green signal to Amit Mehra’s remake of the 1973 Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri-starrer <em>Zanjeer</em>. Then, the officiating judge justice RD Dhanuka had allowed Amit’s production house, Adai Mehra Productions Ltd, to not only complete the film, but release it as well.

SC gives Sanjay Dutt another four weeks to surrender

With reference to Sanjay Dutt’s application seeking a six-month extension of his 18 April surrender deadline, the Supreme Court has given the actor another four weeks time to complete his films before returning to jail. The judges, who were responding to Dutt’s appeal said their decision was on humanitarian grounds. “We extend the time by four weeks from tomorrow. It is made clear that no further extension will be granted," the judges remarked.
