Navratri fashions tips from TV celebs

The festival of Navratri is celebrated with much gaiety and galore in India and across globe. Each day of the fiesta begins with the performance of aarti followed by a high on energy garba dance. People dress up in colourful kediyus and chanya cholis and dance to the tunes of various songs.

As the festival kick-starts today, actors from the television industry come together and gives some fashion tips for Navratri for their readers and fans.

Giaa Maanek:

For people who do not wear 100 percent traditional clothes, they can opt for funky choli and jeans which will look trendy. Also, most women prefer keeping their hair open. I would rather suggest them to tie a high pony which look trendy and they will be comfortable playing dandiya-raas too.

Jay Soni:

Amongst the fashion wear for guys, there I would suggest people to wear different types of colourful kediyus with a matching pagdi and kada. I have seen the fashionistas putting on some great make-up too to complement what they wear. Keeping all these tips in mind I would also like to advise boys to not just check out girls but also to dance (smiles).

Neil Bhatt:

Every year I go to NM College with my group and I win. This season, I would like to advise people to try out different colors and combinations. I am going to try out carrying colours like purple and black, yellow and cream amongst others. When you dance you need to be comfortable so in my view people should opt for patialas with kurtas. Also there are ready-made dhotis available which is very comfortable and easy to wear.

Vrinda Dawda:

For those who just want to make their presence felt and not play can opt for the heavy lehengas and chanya cholis, but for those who want to let their hair down and play from their heart, I would suggest them to wear anything they are comfortable in.

Indo-western style is extremely popular so they can add a traditional touch to what they are wearing. Boys can also opt for a nice koti with jeans. For girls, oxidized jewellery is something which has been adding bling to the colourful collection of clothes from ages, so they can wear that. Just be colourful in these nine days, I strongly recommend.

Fenil Umrigar:

I am a huge fan of the festival of Navratri and have won lot of prizes too. The thing is people should keep their dressing simple and elegant. Make sure the chanyas are flowy and wear minimum jewellery.

For example, if girl wears a backless blouse, wearing a neckpiece would not be necessary then. A nice pair of earrings and they are good to go. Also, I would like to advise people to keep their make-up as light as possible as the sweat will make them uncomfortable and do not apply kajal as it tends to spread.

Nishad Vaidya:

The actual flavor of Navratri and its fun is seen in Gujarat. Here in Mumbai, Navratri is more like going for a DJ night. The focus is more on dance and not what one wears. I would only advise people to wear whatever they are comfortable in.
