Eight hours of work, eight hours of rest and eight hours of sleep- indeed that is what every adult is ideally prescribed to. Most of your favourite TV actors can’t afford the luxury of a beauty sleep spanning over eight hours. They spend most of their waking hours working on the sets and commuting to and fro from work. They can barely catch upon a few hours of sleep in a twenty four hour day.
In real life nightmares seem to outnumber sweet dreams especially in adults. Even when you do a Google search, information on terrifying dreams is vast when compared to details on blissful dreams.
In the classic novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, the protagonist who is transported to an amazing world of make believe populated by a variety of anthropomorphic creatures, encounters quite a few terrifying experiences as well to finally wake up with a start from her dream when the Queen of Hearts screams to her, “Off with her head!”
In the famous soliloquy in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, some have interpreted it as the speaker Hamlet pondering if death is indeed like an everlasting sleep with a series of dreams; he nevertheless wonders what those dreams may be like. It is implied, what if they are horrendous nightmares after all?
How your day went greatly determines what you will dream at night. As TV stars lead very stressful lives most of them were unable to think of a prominent sweet dream they had had. After some effort, a handful of them shared with us a cute dream of theirs.
Herbalists have recommended various natural remedies like passion flower, Jamaican dogwood and valerian for a peaceful sleep with pleasant dreams. These shouldn’t be taken without consulting a medical specialist or doctor though. Listening to soothing music or doing something relaxing before bedtime is also believed to be conducive to a restful sleep at night, which is likely to give rise to beautiful dreams which will revitalise you.
