On World Sleep Day, meet the sleep-deprived TV actors
Lights, Camera…Snore!!! Yes, this happens when actors don’t get an adequate sleep after working round the clock. There is not a single person in the world who doesn’t like to sleep. Adequate sleep makes one feel better and boosts your mood. It is a key part of a healthy lifestyle and can benefit your heart, weight and mind. On the occasion of World Sleep Day today, we got in conversation with a few TV actors and asked them as to how many hours do they sleep and being an actor how important is sleep for them. Read on… Kishwer Merchantt: Earlier, I used sleep for more than 12 hours a day but now that I have shoots round the clock, I hardly sleep for four hours. And these days, as we are shooting a Holi sequence for Madhubala, I sleep for only three hours. The best part is that the lack of proper sleep doesn’t show on my face. Gautam Rode: Well I didn’t know it’s World Sleep Day today and guess what, I slept properly today which I don’t do regularly. I sleep only for four to five hours in a day. I think it is a cycle that we have got used to it. Other than shoot, we have to stay fit and also indulge in other activities; so I am hardly left with ample time to sleep. But to live a healthy life, adequate sleep is very important. Surbhi Jyoti: I always make sure to sleep at least eight hours in a day. No matter how hectic is my schedule I make it a point to get a good sleep. If not at my place, I sleep in between my shots either on the set or in my car. I think for an actor sleep is very important or else you get dark circles and many more ailments. Deepika Singh: I sleep for six hours a day. Since I meditate a lot, it keeps me on roll for the entire day. I don’t take power naps in-between because it doesn’t suit me. I don’t like if someone calls me in the middle of my sleep because this leads to irritation. For an actor, I think time management is very important. If you balance things properly, you will stay healthy and fit. Karan Mehra: From the time of Yeh Rishta…. that is since five years I have been sleeping only for five to six hours a day. But for the last two months I make it a point to sleep for seven hours. It’s very important to look after yourself; you can’t push your body to that extent. Otherwise it will show on your face and on-screen. If I can’t sleep at home then I sleep in-between my shots. That’s the way I have managed to get sleep. Tina Dutta: Today is World Sleep Day and I wish I could sleep the entire day to rejuvenate myself. But let’s come to the reality. Since the last five years, I have been sleeping for only two to three hours a day. And if we have telecast issues or maha episode, than we get hardly two hours of sleep. But power nap helps me a lot and that’s how I have survived till date.
