Drama is part of my sexuality : Rohit Verma

Rohit Verma
Housemates with ‘different’ sexual preferences have always evoked interest in the Bigg Boss House. If it was Bobby Darling in the first season, it was Rohit Verma this time. But Verma beat Bobby Darling hands down when it came to creating the maximum noise in the House; be it creating controversies, back-biting, raving and ranting and being the ultimate Drama Queen, not to forget the duration of his stay in Bigg Boss. Critics feel the gay fashion designer tried every trick within and beyond what was permitted in the rule book to stay on and win the show. However, after eight weeks in the house, Verma was evicted. Does he blame the audience? Or are his fellow inmates to be blamed? TellyChakkar met the fashion designer turned reality show participant minutes after the eviction. Excerpts from an interview: How was a typical day in the house? Every day I think was divided into three categories of activity. First was of course, eating. Then, taking up various tasks assigned by Bigg Boss and last, but definitely not the least, would be cribbing and criticising each other. You have often mentioned in the house that you participated for money… Not entirely true. I did pass through a rough patch, financially, but that was not the real reason for participation. I am in a reasonably good state now. Money was definitely one of the reasons, Bachchan ji’s presence being the other major one. Why do you think you were evicted? Do you hold anyone responsible? Everyone knows the story behind my eviction. Among Vindu Dara Singh, Raju Srivastava and me, I was the weakest, so had to face the boot. Raju has a massive fan following. Vindu is a master manipulator; he can wriggle out of any situation. Anyone who goes against him is voted out the next week. We have seen this earlier also, and my case was no different. A video in which you were plotting with Raju and Vindu, discussing nominations was leaked by Bigg Boss to everyone in the house. Do you think that incident did you in? Of course, it did. The video was an unfortunate incident that could have been avoided. I think this was the result of lot of manipulation on someone’s part. But, you are allegedly manipulative, no? Everyone in the house is manipulative. Every single housemate plans for nominations – isn’t that being manipulative? My mistake was in admitting what I did. Today, after my eviction, I feel that I have been emotionally used by people I trusted in the house. What about the dramatic statements you made of being out of touch with your family, when you had spoken to your parents just before joining the show? Drama is part of my sexuality. I have no qualms in admitting that I am melodramatic. What is wrong in that? But, I am not an actor. I do not fake emotions. Yes, I spoke to my parents before the show but it was more of a courtesy call than anything else. It was not an emotional connect. It is only after the show that my parents have accepted me the way I am. It was not like this before. People have even questioned your status as a fashion designer, whether you really design clothes or are you just a fashion show organiser? All this was cooked up while I was inside Bigg Boss house. One of the housemates was largely responsible for stirring this up. But I laugh off such rumours. Anyone can go on Google and find out who I am and check my credentials. Just before doing Bigg Boss, I did a fashion show where Kangana Ranaut was the show stopper. I think such shows can be done only by a designer and not by just an organiser! How will life change after Bigg Boss? You have got a lot of exposure through it… Really? I don’t know about how much exposure I got. I will take some time to realise that I am out of Bigg Boss. But I must admit that I would like to go back to the House as a wild card entrant and pay back the remaining contestants in their own coin.
