Guess who is back on the Indian television scene – it’s Nikunj Malik. The pretty woman was very close to winning Rahul Mahajan’s hand in Rahul Ka Swayamvar but lost out to Dimpy at the last moment. The Faridabad girl who had a neck-to-neck finish with the Bengali bombshell is back, albeit in a serial this time. Nikunj is currently seen in a role in Star One's romantic show Geet.
TellyChakkar spoke to the leggy Nikunj to find out what prompted her to act in a daily soap, her experience so far and reactions on the media reports about Mrs and Mr Rahul Mahajan.
Did I wake you up?
(Smiles) Honestly, yes! I came back from the shooting early morning and went to sleep some time back. As my track has just started, the next few weeks will be quite hectic for me. But I have no complaints and am enjoying every minute of this.
What attracted you to do this show?
Definitely, the character I am playing – Anwesha and the show. People fondly call me Annie in the show. She is chirpy, full of life and is nice. Plus, I must also admit that the wardrobe which the makers and creative team have given me is an added advantage. She wears a lot of fashionable and trendy dresses with jewellery which a girl, my age will definitely want to wear. I am lucky to get a role in Geet, which is doing so well.
Isn’t the daily soap schedule killing?
Why does everyone think only the actors have to experience this? All the technicians on the set, makeup artists, hair dressers – everyone works in this schedule and survives. Personally, I am a workaholic and am enjoying this schedule a lot. I cannot sit idle at home. I am lucky to have got such an excellent opportunity and will give my 100 per cent to this show.
Viewers think of Nikunj Malik as this arrogant girl with loads of attitude in Rahul Ka Swayamvar…
I have been educated in the best of schools and colleges in my life and I feel have been brought up very wisely by my parents. I am very confident and have self respect. I don't think I am arrogant or I have attitude. It's just that I have my own opinion and am not influenced too much by others.
Have you kept an eye on the lives of Mrs and Mr Rahul Mahajan?
Why should I? Many couples have their own problems in their married lives. I am not interested in this. I have many other things to keep an eye on.
