“Atharva and I are reflections of each other in so many ways”, says Sheehan Kapahi from Sony SAB’s ‘Wagle Ki Duniya- Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey’

Wagle Ki Duniya

MUMBAI: Sony SAB’s Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey beautifully brings to life the trials, triumphs, and heartfelt moments of middle-class families. The show follows the journey of the Wagle family - Rajesh Wagle (Sumeet Raghavan) and his wife Vandana (Pariva Pranati), along with their children—Sakhi Wagle (Chinmayi Salvi) and Atharva Wagle (Sheehan Kapahi). Having started his journey at a young age, Sheehan has captivated audiences with his performance. In this exclusive interview, Sheehan shares insights into his journey, his idols, and his future plans.

1. You’ve been a part of Wagle Ki Duniya since its launch. How has this journey been for you so far?
It’s been four years, yet it feels like yesterday when I walked onto the set for the first time, wide-eyed and nervous, not knowing that this place would soon become my second home. This journey has been more than just about acting—it’s been about growing, learning, and discovering parts of myself I never knew existed. From my first scene to today, I’ve not only grown taller (thankfully) but also wiser, shaped by the incredible people around me. This show has given me a family outside my own, and for that, I will forever be grateful—for the laughter, the lessons, the scoldings that felt like love, and the moments that will stay with me long after the cameras stop rolling.

2. Your character, Atharva, is full of energy and mischief. How much of Sheehan is in Atharva?
Atharva and I are reflections of each other in so many ways. His boundless energy, curiosity, and ability to find joy in the simplest moments—that’s all me. But the biggest difference? Atharva’s mischief is scripted; mine gets me into real trouble! There are days when I feel like he teaches me more than I teach him, reminding me to embrace life with a childlike spirit and never lose that spark of wonder.

3. The show beautifully portrays family values. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from being a part of it?
If there’s one thing Wagle Ki Duniya has taught me, it’s that family isn’t just about blood—it’s about love and standing by each other no matter what. I’ve learned that mistakes don’t define us; the people who forgive us do. I’ve seen how love, patience, and understanding can mend even the deepest wounds. And if I ever break something expensive at home? Well, I’ve also learned that blaming the wind doesn’t always work—but honesty does.

4. Atharva often finds himself in fun yet challenging situations. Is there any scene that was particularly difficult or fun to shoot?
One of the most unforgettable moments was when Atharva dreamt of becoming Superman. I can still feel the excitement of putting on the costume, the thrill of being strapped into the harness, and that exhilarating feeling of "flying." It was magical—like stepping into a childhood fantasy. For those few minutes, I wasn’t just playing a superhero—I was one. And maybe that’s what acting is all about, living dreams, even if just for a scene.

5. Who is your biggest inspiration on set, and what’s the best advice you’ve received from your co-stars?
Every person on set has left an imprint on me, but Sumeet sir has been like a guiding light. His presence, his wisdom, and his unwavering kindness have taught me that being a great actor starts with being a great human. The best advice I’ve received? “Never just say the dialogue—feel it.” Those words changed everything for me.

6. What’s the best compliment you’ve received for your role from your fans?
There was a moment I’ll never forget—a woman, expecting a child, walked up to me, her eyes filled with emotion. She hugged me tightly and said, “Beta, I have your photo in my bedroom. I look at it every night before sleeping. I want my son to be just like Atharva.” That was the day I realized that what we do on screen isn’t just entertainment—it’s a part of people’s lives, their emotions, their dreams. I had to hold back tears, knowing that somehow, in some way, I had made a difference.

7. Can you share something about what viewers can expect from the upcoming track?
I wish I could spill all the secrets, but let’s just say… it’s going to be a ride. There will be laughter, there will be lessons, and there will be moments that will make you feel like you’re right there with us, living every second. Stay with us—Atharva’s journey is just getting started.

8. Your fans love your performance as Atharva. How do you feel about their love and support, and what message would you like to give them?
Words feel small when I try to describe how much their love means to me. Every kind of message, every smile, every moment of appreciation—it’s the reason I do what I do. To everyone who has ever watched Wagle Ki Duniya and seen a bit of themselves in Atharva, to those who have laughed with him, cried for him, and grown alongside him—thank you. You are the heart of this journey, and I promise to keep giving you stories worth believing in.
