The Maryada star Dakssh Ajit Singh (on Star Plus) is one of the fitter and well toned male actors on telly but the fact is he believes in eating all that he can. And his mantra for fitness is exercising outside rather than in the gym. Tellychakkar spoke to this very actor about his eating habits and a lot more. Personal fitness mantra: I believe in eating whatever I can and exercise regularly. More than all of it I think being stress-free is what helps me a lot. Personal diet mantra: I never follow a diet plan I eat everything and anything that I get to eat. I believe in eating well and exercising well too. Exercise routine: I usually exercise three days a week and do yoga twice a week. I also do various other things like skipping, cycling, jogging and swimming as and when I have time for it. I prefer outdoor exercises more than being in the gym. Is food the elixir of life? Good fitness also depends on the diet and if you do not have a proper diet you obviously won’t survive hence, it is important. But, I think one should follow the saying eat to live and don’t live to eat. Are you a foodie? I am a foodie but, I prefer having more of home food than outside. Otherwise, I don’t mind having sweets. Are you a vegetarian or non-vegetarian? Non-vegetarian. Favourite cuisine: Indian. Favourite dish: Sarso Ka Saag, Makke Ki Roti and some lassi is my favourite meal, and, especially, the ones that my mom makes. Favourite restaurant: Dhuan restaurant and Bar in Versova. I like the food out there. A must on my breakfast table: Coffee, a small bowl of dry fruits, some fresh fruits and parathas. Sugar or sugar-free for my tea/coffee: Black Coffee without sugar. Lunch generally consists of… I like Chicken, mutton or if I am having veg it will consist of rajma or kadi with chawal. And there is this one thing about me if I am having veg I won’t have no-veg and vice versa. I don’t like mixing the two. Dinner generally consists of… It’s almost the same but I prefer chicken gravy or chicken tikka in dinner. Dessert delights… Brownies and Natural mango ice-cream, if I buy an ice-cream pack I will have the entire half kg pack. My favourite drink (non-alcoholic): Mango Shake. My favourite drink (alcoholic): Wine, especially red wine. At parties I have: Shots mainly. Wine is better to take when you have enough time at home. Most unusual dish I've tasted: Prawns curry. There isn’t much of sea food made in the North. When I was here, my friends went to have sea food and I wanted to try it too. But, the moment I had it there was this weird feeling inside. I just did not like it. Experiment with food: I usually do not cook but, when I do, I see to it that it is the best. Once I wanted to cook chicken but I did not know how to make it. So, I got its recipe from somewhere and tried cooking it with my own set of spices. I kept it cooking for too long so, finally when it came in plate the bones had been separated. But, the chicken was the tastiest chicken I ever had. On the streets, I love to have… Tawa pulao. Do you cook? No I don’t as I said but my favourite is Mutton kali mirch. Favourite recipe: Mutton kali mirch Ingredients: Boneless lamb mutton 500gm Five chopped onions 200gm 10 cloves garlic chopped Three green chillis 5 cm ginger piece Salt to taste Oil to cook One tsp cumin seeds One and a half tsp black pepper One tbsp garam masala One tbsp meat One tsp tomato paste Method: First cook meat in microwave for 10 minutes, drain and keep aside. Then heat oil in wok, add cumin seeds once they start spluttering add black pepper seeds, followed by chopped onion, garlic, ginger and green chilli. Once the onion starts changing colour add mutton, keep stirring for 3 to 5 minutes further add salt, garam masala and meat masala and fry for five minutes. Add tomato paste and fry for a minute. Then add about 150 ml water and close the lid and pressure cook for 7 to 8 whistles.
