13th Indian Telly Awards: Best Chef
For those who love experimenting in kitchen, food channels are like a blessing in disguise. And the masters who whip up those delicacies in their studio kitchens which ultimately find their way into our homes need a pat on their backs. Recognising their talent is the 13th Indian Telly Awards and we have nominated five masterchefs in the category –TV Chef. Let’s take a look at each one of them. Sanjeev Kapoor (Cook Smart) The class and taste of India’s best know chef, Sanjeev Kapoor’s dishes have grown with age much like vintage wine. From Indian to continental, Sanjeev is adept at cooking practically everything under the sun. He is even seen travelling to far off lands of Africa and trying his hand at cooking their local dishes while giving them a flavor of the quintessential Indian tadka. Smart and Sanjeev often go hand-in-hand with each other. Harpal Singh Sokhi (Turban Tadka) This Singh loves singing in his kitchen. Mimicking the famous Dhadak Dhadak from Bunty Aur Babli, Harpal often hums Namak Shamak Namak Shamak while adding salt to his dishes thereby making it his trademark. In a clear departure from the corporate style five star chef cooking, Harpal looks like the common man in charge of his kitchen. And adding the humane touch are anecdotes about his beloved mother and her secret recipes. Ajay Chopra (Hi Tea) Smart, crisp and to the point, Ajay Chopra breezes into kitchen, explains things with precision and breezes out the way he came in. A no nonsense chef, Ajay avoids unnecessary explanations and focuses more on the task in hand which is cooking a sumptuous dish. Shantanu Gupte (India Unlimited) Be it the rich Malabar Meal, traditional Tamil Tiffins or Kashmir’s Kabargah Chef Shantanu Gupte can expertly cook these with a classic flourish. In his kitchen you will find India, its traditions and colors converging together bring out the best flavours and aromas of our diverse land. Vikas Khanna (Coastal Curries) Easily the sexiest looking chef alive, Vikas can kill not just with his looks but also with his culinary skills. Known to have served the top luminaries of Hollywood including Tom Cruise. Vikas Khanna in Coastal Curries is seen visiting the coastal landmarks of India and cooking the local delicacies with his much able hands.
