MUMBAI: Actress Kavita Virmani got the shock of her life when someone duped her of Rs 2.5 lakhs for facilitating her entry into Bigg Boss. The actress has now lodged a complaint with the Versova Police station. As per her complaint, the police revealed that Virmani’s 25 year old son received a message from two mobile numbers 9653598480 and 8307879574 on 12th January claiming that they would help her to participate in the reality show.

Kavita called on one of the numbers where an unidentified person assured her that she would get entry into the house after paying Rs 30000. Subsequently, Kavita transferred the amount through PhonePe.
On 21st January, the fraudster asked for another Rs 72000 and later after giving various excuses and taking another Rs 1.08,000, he did not provide a valid explanation about when she would enter the show. The fraudster took a total of Rs 2.10 Lakhs.
Kavita then realised that she had fallen prey to a scam and filed a case against the unidentified person under Indian Penal Code section 420 (cheating and dishonesty), along with other relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
