Varsha Bhosle, daughter of Asha Bhosle and a political columnist has committed suicide by shooting herself today afternoon (8 October 2012), it is understood. Varsha was a political columnist and journalist based in Mumbai.
She stayed by herself in the same building as her mother. According to reports, she reportedly shot herself at the singer's residence 'Prabhu Kunj' in Peddar Road.
Varsha had emulated her mother and had herself sung for a few Hindi and Marathi films.

Varsha was divorced from freelance sports writer Hemant Kenkre. She was in her mid-50s and had allegedly attempted suicide once four years ago in 2008.
She has worked as a columnist for The Sunday Observer between 1994 and 1998 and at Rediff between 1997 and 2003.
Incidentally, Asha Bhosle is currently in Singapore to attend MIFTA awards (Marathi Culture awards). In the television space, she is seen as one of the judges in SurKshetra (Colors and Sahara One).
