Ashiesh Roy
The comedy Kabhi Saas Kabhi Bahu which airs on DD1 is about a character from a television soap that the protagonist family loves to watch who comes alive and takes over the family. The story is about three men Abhijit Lahiri, Iqbal Azad and Vije Bhatiya who are dominated by their respective wives Shama Deshpande, Sushmita Mukherji and Sonia Handa. The hen-pecked husbands secretly admire a domineering character named Sher Singh from their favourite television soap opera. Sher Singh is an utterly chauvinistic character who completely dominates his wife and mother in the serial. One day, while watching the serial, the three hapless husbands wish how wonderful it would be if Sher Singh could give them a few tips about controlling their own wives. And the next thing is that Sher Singh is transported out of the television screen into their midst. Their idol proceeds to guide the three meek men into becoming chauvinistic and domineering husbands. The ladies are shocked by the drastic change that has come in their husbands all of a sudden. The frictions between the two parts of the family give rise to one hilarious situation after another, with Sher Singh actively adding to the merry confusion. “The story is so funny and unexpected, that the audience is bound to remember it long after the story is over. Ashiesh deemed fit to play the character and he has done fulfilled our expectations,” informs director Rajesh Gupta. Though the actor admits that playing Sher Singh didn’t come easy to him and hopes that the audience likes what he did. This episode of Kabhi Saas Kabhi Bahu will telecast on 2 September at 9:00 pm on Doordarshan’s National Network.
