Audience perspective: Is Banni Chow Home Delivery projecting an unrealistic love story?

The portrayal of a different kind of love is surely exciting and brave but can the makers do justice to the story they so badly want to project.
Audience perspective: Is Banni Chow Home Delivery projecting an unrealistic love story?

MUMBAI : The TV show Banni Chow Home Delivery is gaining great attention and popularity. The story's premise is that Banni is a tough delivery lady who makes a living by doing door-to-door food deliveries. She settles for marrying Yuvan, a mentally challenged man she first takes to be a friend, as a compromise. Her transformation as a result of this marriage is the central theme of this narrative. Pravisht Mishra and Ulka Gupta played the main characters on small screens when the series premiered a few months ago.

The show started on a great note, we saw Banni’s independence and her feisty behavior, and we were all rooting for her and when she her fate was sealed with Yuvaan, we always expected a story similar to the one in My Name is Khan, where a string woman like Mandira fell for the simple charm of Rizwaan. But Banni and Yuvaan’s love is not like that.

Rather it is confusing, does Yuvaan understand love, can he ever reciprocate the feelings that Banni has for him. The constant fear of change is- Will Banni find someone else? Will She move on with Agastya?

The portrayal of a different kind of love is surely exciting and brave but can the makers do justice to the story they so badly want to project? Currently, the love story between Yuvaan and Banni feels a little unrealistic, their is chemistry for sure but it feels more forced and their not really a sensitivity to the ideas of new-age romance. This feels like a tale as old as time and audiences think the same.

Rati Mishra says, “If you have a younger and fresh cast, why tell an old story or a similar one from a movie. Their chemistry has potential but right now there is spark”.

Vishal Singh says, “ This feels like a missed opportunity to define new age romance in TV, while they definitely want to to try something new the potential to execute it is lost”.

Nidhi Rajan says “Yuvaan is not able to carry out things in his daily life, but when it comes to Banni how are we expected to believe that he is acting very hero-like. The innocence has disappeared”.

Soumya Gandhi says “ Banni has never even gotten the opportunity to even explore love and what she wants. How is this a progressive love story, if she has become the babysitter and now after spending so much time has feelings for this guy”.

Well, the fans have definitely voiced their opinions and some of them are really valid. But what turn the show will take is definitely in the makers hands.
