Mirza Abdul Majid is a well known and successful casting director in the entertainment business.

He has done casting for serials like Savdhaan India, Crime Patrol, Crime Alert, Crime world etc.

He has also casted for television shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, Hanuman, Radha Mohan, Ziddi Dil Maane Na, Wagle Ki Duniya etc.

TellyChakkar got in touch with one of the renowned casting directors Mirza Abdul Majid and asked him about his journey and what are his future plans.

How did your journey begin in this field?

To be very honest, anyone who is a makeup artist or assistant director, casting director, the audience don't care about them, they are only bothered about the actors in the show. Hence I began my journey as a junior artist. I worked for a while and then began co-ordination as I had known many people in my circle and I began to provide junior artists for shows and movies. The last one I did there was shot in Karjat. I took 400 - 500 people along with me.

Then I began the casting for serials like Crime Patron, Crime alert and then slowly ventured into television, did casting for shows like Wagle Ki Duniya, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai etc where I did casting through coordination with casting directors of the show. Wagle Ki Duniya casting was done by me solely.

I also did casting for web series like 'Cartel' that I also did through co - coordinating, then I did casting for two music videos for T - Series and have done casting for many music videos.

What are your plans further when it comes to your professional life?

Am planning to open a casting agency where in my office only casting will be done and the second office will be where I will be managing actors with a team. I will make the contracts and will manage their work. So I would love to open a casting agency and management company. I am doing casting for the movie 'Love Dobara'.

Has it ever happened that you got caught between the production house and actor when it came to issues?

Many times it happened. In one of my music videos I had casted an actress for the music video and she needed a lot of facilities like a personal car and guard etc. I was in Mumbai and when I spoke to the producer about it that why aren't you providing her with the facilities the producer told me that she is lying and nothing that's when the producer took me on a conference call and that's when the actress denied that she complained anything to me and told the producer that I was lying and in spite of that I was supporting her so all these things happens.

A similar incident happened with an actor when I had signed him for Crime Patrol and he had to do three - four episodes. But then suddenly he changed and started to not talk properly and said he is having meetings with producers and all.

So Yes, it's challenging at times for casting directors to deal with such situations.

Well, there is no doubt that Mirza Abdul Majid  is one of the most reputed and well known casting directors of the entertainment industry.
