MUMBAI: Renowned celebrity chef Ranveer Brar needs no introduction in the culinary world. With a career spanning nearly three decades, he has cemented his place as one of India’s most successful and celebrated chefs.
Best known for hosting multiple television food shows and serving as a judge on MasterChef India, Brar has shared the panel with esteemed chefs like Sanjeev Kapoor, Vikas Khanna, Vineet Bhatia, Garima Arora, and Pooja Dhingra.
Born and raised in Lucknow, Brar found his inspiration in the city’s vibrant street food culture, particularly the local kebab vendors.

This early passion for food led him to pursue a career in hospitality, graduating from a prestigious institute in Lucknow before embarking on an extraordinary culinary journey.
By the age of 25, he had already achieved the remarkable feat of becoming one of India’s youngest executive chefs at a five-star hotel.
A Bold Leap and a Testing Time
In spite of his achievements in India, Brar had higher goals in mind. He recently disclosed his decision to make the risky move to Boston in order to launch a restaurant in an interview.
Although the business initially showed promise, it was forced to close within two years because it was unable to connect with the local audience. Due to the financial issues brought on by the shutdown, Brar became bankrupt and nearly homeless.
“I never shared my struggles with my family,” he admitted. “I wanted to handle it on my own.”
Brar took refuge in a Gurudwara's kitchen during this trying time. Serving as a source of solace and motivation, preparing langar for the community reignited his passion for cooking. "Cooking for other people helped me rediscover my purpose and became a healing process," he said. He obtained a new job and started to piece his life back together, determined to re-establish his career.
A Turning Point and a Triumphant Return
Brar’s journey took another significant turn when he learned of his father’s cancer diagnosis. Returning to India, he shifted his focus towards media and television, a move that proved to be a game-changer. Hosting cooking shows catapulted him to fame, and he quickly became a beloved household name in the culinary industry.
Today, Ranveer Brar is not only one of India’s most adored chefs but also a respected judge on MasterChef India and Celebrity MasterChef India. His recipes are replicated globally, and his influence continues to grow.
A New Chapter in Bollywood
Adding another feather to his cap, Brar recently made his Hindi film debut in Buckingham Murders, sharing the screen with Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor. His foray into acting marks yet another milestone in an already illustrious career.
