Check out the list of women-centric Hindi TV shows which aimed at focussing on the necessity of woman empowerment and female leadership attributes in every ordinary girl.

MUMBAI: One of the major objectives of each and every Hindi TV show is portraying the life of the female protagonists, who start-off small but end up leaving behind a prominent mark in their as well as others lives, which bear a massive impact. 

Despite their countless compromises and sacrifices, these Hindi show's female leads rise up above all by fighting against all odds till their last breadth and win over the world on the grounds of boldness, compassion, sass, bravery and independence.

Let's check out these evergreen small-screen shows which would be remembered forever for showcasing daily battles of ordinary yet triumphant women:

1. Mann Kee Awaaz - Pratigya

This Indian soap opera used to air on STAR Plus.

It's main plot revolved around a revolutionary woman who breaks all limits to fight for her rights an protect her loved ones. On being forcefully married to Krishna Thakur, who belongs to the powerful 'Thakur family' that's based in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Pratigya dedicated her sole purpose of survival towards fighting against the Thakurs (headed by Krishna's father Sajjan Singh), who are extremely chauvinistic and are deep-rooted followers of old-school traditions and superstition. However, Pratigya hails from the Saxena family (who are though traditional but believe in progressive ideas and promote women empowerment by educating their daughters Pratigya and Arushi) and hence, she takes charge of empowering all the ladies in the Thakur's haveli. 

2. Anupamaa

This story is based on Star Jalsha's Bengali series Sreemoyee.

Initially, Anupamaa is a grounded woman and a devoted housewife, mother, and daughter-in-law, who loves her family and fulfills all their needs by ignoring her own. However, she often gets humiliated for being a simple housewife with an incomplete degree. Her husband Vanraj secretly has been having an affair with his colleague Kavya for the past 8 years. 

Over time and under drastic circumstances, Anupamaa learns everything that's going on beyond her realms of reach but are related to her most precious family members. Hence, she takes a bold move of accepting her original self as it is and portraying the same before the entire world, takes charge of giving her suppressed dreams a chance to materialise and take a stand for herself independently, without waiting for other's consent. However, she also proved that an individual can still stay modest and rooted to win their battle of independence. 

3. Ek Veer Stree Ki Kahaani... Jhansi Ki Rani

This Indian historical drama is based on the life of Lakshmi Bai, the Rani (Queen) of Jhansi.

The plot focusses on the story of a Indian warrior princess who grows up to be a real warrior queen, whose sole aim is to protect her family, kingdom and province against the attacks of the cunning yet skillful Britishers. Despite fighting all odds and breaking major stereotypes as per duty calls, her own natives sabotaged her freedom struggle and got her surrounded by the imperialist clan only for the sake of few wealthy exchange. 

Rani Laxmi Bai's fierce valor and bravery which she sustained till her last breath is still remembered and would be hailed and cherished as the 'epitome of feminism' throughout every generations.

4. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

This show used to air on Star Plus and was a major hit show of the 2000-10 decade.

The following story's plot revolves around the simple daughter of a priest who gets married to the well-reputed Virani family. However, this is just the beginning of her struggles as from pleasing her mother-in-law to single-handedly fighting against all evils who aim to bring her entire  family done, protagonist Tulsi left no stones unturned to safeguard her family at all costs.

5. Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii

Another parallelly hit show to KSBKBT, this former Star Plus show explored the worlds of Parvati and Om Agarwal, who lived in a Marwadi joint family. Parvati portrayed an ideal daughter-in-law of the Agarwal family and was the perfect life-partner to the family's ideal son - Om Agarwal. The story, spread over three generations, mostly focuses on Parvati and her struggles as the ideal wife and daughter-in-law, mother and grandmother and depicts how sometimes one must stand against her loved ones to do what is morally right.

6. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein

This was a massive Ekta Kapoor hit show of 2014-20, that was initially based on Manju Kapur's 2011 novel Custody. 

The show follows the love story of a Tamil dentist Dr. Ishita Iyer and a ruthless Punjabi CEO Raman Bhalla, who is a divorced man. Divyanka Tripathi played the role of the female protagonist Dr. Ishita, who's character was the epitome of motherhood and compassion as she befriended and took charge of Raman's estranged daughter - Ruhi Bhalla's rightful upbringing, such that and Ishita and Ruhi became emotionally attached to each other. Owing to circumstances and Ruhi's custody issues, Raman and Ishita had to marry each other. Ishita's repeated sacrifes for both Ruhi and new husband Raman, fighting against all odds while being called out for being infertile and procuring victory over all life-obstacles made her popularly referred to as 'Ishi Maa' (as initially called by Ruhi).

7. Diya Aur Baati Hum

Lastly, this story's plot was highly relatable for most of the Indian girls who's lives are stuck between their duties and dreams. 

Set on the backdrop of Pushkar (Rajasthan), Diya Aur Baati Hum focused on breaking the stereotypical image of women in rural India by showing the inspirational journey of Sandhya Rathi (portrayed by Deepika Singh G.), whose ambition is to become an IPS officer. She achieves her goal with the help of her husband, Sooraj (Anas Rashid), by going against all odds and equally respecting her elders.
