MUMBAI: Actress Sneha Wagh, who recently joined Sun Neo’s show Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya as Chhathi Maiyya, replacing Devoleena Bhattacharjee, has opened up about her thoughts on Diwali. Sneha revealed that Diwali has always held a special place in her heart, not only as a time of lights and festivities but also as a cherished season of family togetherness and tradition.
Sneha shares her cherished childhood memories of the festival and said, “This year, we're not celebrating Diwali since I lost my grandmother recently, but Diwali has always been my favorite festival since childhood. As a kid, I looked forward to the week-long school holiday, which meant visiting my naani and daadi. At home, Mom would make amazing Maharashtrian Diwali treats like chaklis and laddoos, and I'd happily spend my days snacking on all the goodies. A new dress was a must, along with bathing with uthna, making colorful rangolis, and lighting diyas. My dad even made our own kandil (lantern). I wasn't a big fan of crackers, but I always loved the soft glow of phooljhadis and anaars.”
The Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya actress also emphasized the true essence of Diwali, and said, “Even now, I treasure this time of year because Diwali brings the whole family together. We make sure to gather for at least one day of the festival and create memories that last. Diwali is more than just lights and sweets – it’s about celebrating the victory of light over darkness, which is most meaningful when shared with those we love, lighting up our homes and hearts with rows of diyas.”
Sneha recently stepped into the shoes of Devoleena Bhattacharjee to play Chhathi Maiyya in Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya, as Devoleena exited the show due to her pregnancy. Sneha has started shooting for the show and said, "I’m the one adjusting to this flow, but it’s a wonderful experience! The energy on set is cheerful and welcoming, which makes it all the more enjoyable. I’ve just started shooting, and I can already say that I love this team and this setup.”
Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya, airing on Sun Neo at 7 PM, follows Vaishnavi, an orphan who draws strength and comfort from her unshakable faith in Chhathi Maiyya, who acts as a motherly figure in her life. The show features a talented ensemble cast, including Sara Khan, Jaya Bhattacharya, Brinda Dahal, and Ashish Dixit.
