Sanam, you’ve made quite the impression as Ruturaj. Do you find there are any similarities between you and your character?
Absolutely! Ruturaj and I share a lot in common. We’re both very expressive and lively individuals. I also happen to sing, just like he does, and I’ve always been quite romantic at heart. So slipping into his shoes felt quite natural for me. In many ways, I feel like I’m just bringing my own energy to the role, and the audience seems to be enjoying that authenticity.
Long hours on set can be exhausting. What does your wind-down routine look like after a particularly hectic day?
Honestly, the atmosphere on set is so vibrant and positive that I rarely feel drained. But when I do need to recharge, I like to keep things simple. I head home, spend quality time with my mum, my dog, and Abigail [Pande], and make sure I carve out a bit of alone time too. If the day’s been especially demanding, a hot shower and an early night usually do the trick. Nothing beats waking up refreshed and ready to go again.
