The Great Indian Laughter Challenge is fast becoming a gateway to Comedy Circus for stand-up comedians. After plying their tricks in Star One’s Laughter Challenge, these artists look for greener pastures in Sony’s Comedy Circus. Last year, the likes of Pratap Faujdar, Sunil Sawra, Khayali and Kashif Khan switched to Comedy Circus.
This poaching continues as few artistes of Laughter Challenge 3 have joined Comedy Circus. The few names that are doing the rounds are Chandan Prabhakar, Rajiv Thakar, Sudesh Lahiri and champion Kapil Sharma.
When contacted Kapil, Chandan and Rajiv did not confirm their participation stating that talks were on. However, none of them shied away from expressing their willingness on being part of Comedy Circus.
Says Kapil, “I earn my daily bread by doing stand-up comedy, so why should I shy away from an opportunity?” Chandan Prabhakar had this to say, “More than solo acts, I’m used to performing in duets. So, in that regard Comedy Circus will be perfect for me.” Rajiv Thakur too echoed the same.
While these artists were a bit reluctant in revealing their plans, Vipul Shah, producer of the show confirmed their participation. “Yes, we have signed Kapil, Rajiv, Sudesh and Chandan for our second season. However, we sill haven’t decided on their actor partners.”
