In conversation with Colors' CEO, Raj Nayak

Colors
In a conversation with Tellychakkar.com, during the launch of Colors’ celeb injected show Khatron Ke Khiladi, the channel’s CEO did concede that he’s a tad disappointed with the ratings of Rangrasiya, the other fiction venture on the channel. “But luckily things are now on the upswing both with Rangrasiya and Beintehaa. We are getting very good feedback on both. The story in Rangrasiya is now opening up so the ratings should rise very soon,” said Raj. Also talking about Anil Kapoor’s 24, the creative genius said, “It was a big success. It had the highest ratings in SEC A. For the first time the English speaking audience tuned into a Hindi GEC, normally this demographic looks down on Hindi TV.” “As for numbers, even internationally the first season had not done well. Plus, may be multiple screen presentation might not get easily consumed by the general audience. Having said that, we have got great buzz for the channel. Many people are asking us to upload on Youtube the episodes as they missed the original run but we can’t do it due to copyright issues. But we do plan to air on a daily format (Monday - Friday) on Ristey.” “We are committed to doing one more season. It will happen when producer and actor Anil Kapoor has time. We are confident it will be bigger and better than season one.” Coming to Fear Factor-Khatron Ke Khiladi 5 (KKK5) he averred, “We deliberately took a break last year for we not only needed to take the show to the next level, but also wanted to avoid the fatigue factor.” Taking about the mix of contestants this time around, he said, “All the contestants are popular (Gauahar Khan, Kushal Tandon and Salman Yusuff Khan etc), so it will be like action with the stars like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa which is about dancing with the stars.” When asked about launch date he clarified, “We hope to put this Rohit Shetty hosted adventure show on air in March, either before the Indian Premier League or smack during it. Gone are the days when we would shy away from launching new shows during the annual T-20 cricket tournament. As for slotting, it will be a bi-weekly weekender.” Raj further added, “Colors has always offered differentiated content. Besides KKK we had earlier also played with the action genre via Ring Ka King and Super Fight League (multi martial arts). It is a different thing that they bombed but we will keep trying if we have faith in a concept.” All the best, Mr Nayak!!!
