Though their love story started on a different note, saw its ups and downs and eventually the two found genuine feelings for each other. Varun Badola shares his views on the set up of arranged marriage for middle-aged people and how love should be the prime reason for matrimony.
Varun says, “Marriage is a life-long commitment. It involves responsibilities and many other factors as well. However, be it love marriage, or an arranged set up, a person should always seek true love in any companionship. Therefore, it is very important to know each other well before taking this decision. In case of love marriage, partners do know each other well, but in arranged set-up, people may not know enough about their to-be spouse and their habits or overall personality. Hence, I feel courtship period is very important in an arrange marriage set up.”
Adding further to this, he said, “At the end of the day, whether it is love or arranged marriage, you must take a leap of faith and hope for a happy married life. Our society is evolving and so is the concept of an arranged marriage. Couples prefer to meet multiple times before taking a decision and discuss their expectations from marriage. Not just this, even families are okay with a long courtship period so that the bride and groom can get to understand each other better. It also allows couples to build trust and unconditional love, which are two other must-haves in a healthy relationship, and I feel that one should marry only when they are ready and not be so bothered about the age factor.”
