Don’t look for a solution, just unburden yourself: Harssh on depression during lockdown

MUMBAI: Lockdown 5.0 is actually Unlockdown 1. The country is getting back on its feet once again, after a lockdown of almost two months. However, the lockdown has been extended till June 30 in containment zones.

The last two months were tough on everyone, from financial crisis to depression, we were surrounded with a lot of problems. And though we got to spend some quality time with our loved ones, the stress took a toll on most of us. "Thappad" fame actor Harssh A Singh feels that at a time like this people should focus on unburdening the load of their problems, instead of looking for a solution.

He understands that everyone is uncertain about their jobs, there is a fear of what the future holds and all this has affected their mental health as well.

He feels that meditation can help during this time and added, "Share your problem with your friends and family don’t think that you are troubling them even you listen to there burden and you share your problem see you will feel unburdened. Don’t look for a solution just unburden yourself by sharing that’s what we can do right now."

Lockdown or no-lockdown, wearing masks and social-distancing will be the new normal now. But Harssh feels it will difficult to follow social-distancing in a city like Mumbai.

Giving reasons for the same, he said, "If you are from a small city you are used to a lot more privacy, the houses there are big and even if you don't have a big house you can have your own corner where you can spend some time with yourself. But, since I have come to Mumbai, I have felt that there is nothing called privacy, we are socially occupied in Mumbai."

During the lockdown, everyone including celebrities went all out posting videos about their daily routine. From moping and cleaning their house to cleaning utensils, and workouts, they have shared videos of anything under the sun and over the moon. Harssh feels that these videos can increase the level of mental stress in people because "it will make them think that they can’t march up to them."

However he feels, if people want to share something about their personal life they should do it in other creative ways.

He said, "If you are comfortable sharing everything you can but I am not like that. If I had to I would rather share it through my art, like may be a short film, or an album, it would be my creation. Try and share some message through these creative ways. That's my opinion, I am not forcing anyone, to each his own. You can do whatever makes you happy."

When asked what is the first thing he will do when things get close to being normal, Harssh said, "I will call all my friends so that we can hang out together. We all need it right now."

"The second thing is that I want to get back to work, I have been writing a lot and making music for my album, it's ready and now I will get into the production of the album," he signed off.
