Dr Amol Kolhe, better known as Shivaji of Colors’ Veer Shivaji, is keen on doing negative roles on Hindi television. The actor made his debut in Hindi genre with the above mentioned show; however he is going to stay away from the small screen space till he gets something substantial to enact. But this does not mean that he has no work at hand. In fact, this talented actor is super busy with two films and two plays which he is a part of.
And guess what? The show Veer Shivaji, though off airwaves now, bagged the Best Historical/ Mythological Series in the recently concluded 11th Indian Telly Awards which will be aired on Colors on June 30 2012.
"I am happy that the show got the recognition but I wanted it to continue. We wanted to depict so much more to the audience. As there is a lot more to the glory of Shivaji but sadly we did not get the opportunity,” says Amol.
He further adds, “The TRPs also did increase by the end when IPL was concluding and we all were hoping that the show would be shifted to a weekend slot but that did not happen. In fact, I was just going through the Veer Shivajifan page yesterday (12 June 2012) and I noticed that the fans want it to be shifted to another channel but nothing is happening that way either.”
So will we see him doing more work on Hindi GECs? “Yes, I would take up shows if they have significant characters for me. But from what I perceive, television does not have meaty roles for men. Hence, I would like to do negative role as they are more challenging and one gets to portray varied shades.”
Talking about his current projects, he shares, “I am working on a Marathi film Awaz Kodacha which is to release on 7 September 2012 and then I will start working on my next multilingual project which is an action drama. I also have plays which include Shabhu Raje and Shiv Putra Sambhu Raje. The first one is going on and the second will be an Oprah which will be conducted in an open air auditorium. There will be live fights in this play. I will be playing Sambhaji in both the plays.”
Amol is working really hard on his physic for his role in the action drama film as he tells us, “My role demands me to have at least six pack abs hence I am working really hard on my body these days. I am looking forward to this role.”
We wish him all the luck.
