Erica Fernandes gets her new home 'Christmas ready' prior to the celebrations

Actress Erica Fernandes plans to give a 'Christmas-special' makeover to her new home.

MUMBAI: Erica Fernandes is busy setting up Christmas trees and lighting up the house with fairy lights to create some festive cheer this year and why not? After all, it’s her first Christmas in her new house.

Erica shared, “This year, the festival is going to be very different and special for me. This will be my first Christmas in my own house and having enough time to spend at home, I am going to create some extra cheer and happiness for me and my family. I have already started decorating it and setting up a Christmas tree.”.

Erica, who loves illuminated trees with Santa ornaments, admits that she plans to create a magical wonderland in her house. “I am obsessed with Christmas trees and since I have my own space, I want at least 3-4 trees in different corners of the house to give a perfect feel of the festive fervour. I am creating a winter wonderland in my new house and will go all out with decoration. I want every corner of the house to look special with festival vibes. My girl gang too will join me in decorating the tree.”.

This festival has a lot more in store for her as her parents and brother too will join her and celebrate the fest in her new home. “My brother, who is working in Abu Dhabi will be coming and my parents too will join me soon. Baking a cake will be another highlight this year as it is my mom who does it every year.”, she informed.

Recalling Christmas preparations from her childhood days, she says, “Preparations for the festival in our home used to start almost a month ago. Be it shopping, cleaning the house, buying gifts for everyone, the entire family would get busy in something or the other. Since I loved decorating the house, setting up a Christmas tree and its decoration has always been my duty, which I loved the most.”

Erica shares how she and her brother used to wait for gifts. “It was kind of a treasure hunt to get gifts. My parents used to hide our gifts and we used to search for them in the backyard, behind the curtains, or beneath the bed. While hunting for our gifts, my brother and I used to have fun asking, ‘tumhara gift mila kya?’ It was very exciting.".
