MUMBAI: Ali Hasan is a part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and while he thoroughly entertains us through the show, the actor also indulges into fitness.
While a lot of actors resort to gymming to keep themselves fit, Ali practises a Japanese form of martial arts called Jujitsu. In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Ali spoke at length about his passion for the art. Ali shared, “After I joined acting, I missed out on all forms of physical activity. I used to gym but after a point, gymming also gets monotonous. I started to lose interest and being a part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, I had a little time so I thought I’d take up boxing. I ended up calling a number which led me to Mr. Balkrishna Shetty. I initially did not know who he is and he usually does not answer calls but he somehow, I got a call back from him, I showed my interest and he told me that I should pursue MMA.
I went to his academy, called Total Combat Fitness and there I got to know what all MMA consists of striking and grappling. I’ve heard of Jujitsu but never done it. I was very curious about it and I fell in love with it. I have been practising for 2 years now and the best thing about Jujitsu is that it is not only a form of fitness but a way of life. I was practising Muay Thai. Speaking of Jujitsu, I think the form of fitness chose me.
I have become student for life and I think it’s good to know one striking art form and one grappling form. I am a part of World Muay Counsel Body. I think it is a golden time for martial arts and I hope to empower many people to pursue the art.”
