Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd. is an Indian content creator, aggregator, and distributor, specifically in the media and entertainment industry. Currently, the brand has a collection of more than 3700 movie titles in multiple Indian languages and offers services to customers in more than 30 countries, including the US, UK, Singapore, UAE, and Australia.

It is all set to bring a new show for Shemaroo Umang, titled Razz Mahal, which will star Ridhiema Tiwari, Himanshu Soni, and Neha Hersora.

Ridheema Tiwari is an Indian television and film actress. She is famous for portraying the characters in television serials including, Do Dil Ek Jaan, Sasural Genda Phool, and Ghulaam.

She is recognized in Bollywood for her debut film Begum Jaan in 2017.

She will now be seen in Raaz Mahal in the role of Chandralekha. TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about her new show and the comparisons.

How challenging was it to accept this role and after accepting it, to prepare for it?

When I first heard the narration about the show, about Chandralekha and when her journey was described to me, she felt like a very strong character. Frankly speaking, strong roles are my comfort zone, I have a lot of fun playing strong characters because it comes easily. But what caught my attention was the duality, the unpredictable nature that Chandralekha has. I have never done a fantasy drama and it is an opportunity. Secondly the story, the plot, and the way Chandralekha is, devious, evil, cruel and just straight up bad energy, we only hear about this or read about this, but I never go to explore anything about this. So, I was very excited about this and it becomes challenging for me when I did some introspection. I want that as an actor, I question my limitations and challenge myself. The team has a lot of belief in me that I can do this, so I am putting 300 percent into this project.

When we talk about the audience reaction, do you think your fans will like this role, and what would be your reaction if they did not like it?

As an actor, I might go into extremes, but as a person, I like to stay in the middle of it. The audience loves me on Instagram because I am so active there, but I don’t post incessantly. Similarly, it's not like I have shows after shows, all my characters have been different, and their reaction has been really nice after the teaser came out. I have gotten an overwhelming amount of love from the audience, and that’s just from the teaser. The location where I shoot, the kids near them call me Chandralekha and ask to meet me. I have already won and if the audiences feel like, I look scary enough in this character then it works.

Supernatural shows are the new craze and some actresses have already set the benchmark in shows like Nazar and Pishachini, what is your take on that?

I don’t think that TV has a benchmark, because we can’t remember what the last day’s episode was. I don't think you can set a benchmark in TV. The eras, of Ramayan and Mahabharat, are gone, those were the real benchmarks. Now, we have a lot of shows and a lot of platforms. You set benchmarks when the options are limited. Now, we have so many options that if you are not enjoying TV, you can switch to OTT, and then to digital mediums. Actors can’t really create these levels of benchmarks, because there is always someone who can do better, and all you need is one chance or one opportunity.

Raaz Mahal airs on Sheemaro Umang and stars Ridhiema Tiwari, Himanshu Soni and Neha Herora.
