EXCLUSIVE! I have played a range of characters in the past but the role of Bhavani Kaku has given me a different high: Kishori Shahane on shooting for Ghum Kai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin

Kishori is currently a part of Star Plus show Ghum Hai Kiskey Pyaar Meiin and in an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, she opened up on her experience shooting for the drama.

MUMBAI: Kishori Shahane is a multi-faceted artist.

She has been a part of various Marathi and Hindi theatre plays along with a plethora of Bollywood films and television shows. Over a period of time, she has played a range of different characters and so well, that she is considered among the most marvellous actors who can brighten up the screen just with their presence.

Kishori is currently a part of Star Plus show Ghum Hai Kiskey Pyaar Meiin and in an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, she opened up on her experience shooting for the drama.

How has your experience been shooting for Ghum Hai Kiskey Pyaar Meiin? You have performed a range of characters over the period of time so how is it like to shoot for the character of Bhavani kaku?

I am very proud of the show and the character. The character of Bhavani which was narrated to me is someone who is the head of the family and she has to protect the dignity of the family. The family is among the elite classes and has big secrets. She does not want the secrets to come out in the open. I really love playing the character as it has various shades to a personality. I have played a lot of different and good roles but the character of Bhavani has given me a different high. The kind of appreciation I am getting from this role is very good. Though she comes across as a negative character, she is not and people are appreciating it.

Have you drawn any inspiration from the Bengali version of the show Kusum Dola?

I haven’t seen Kusum Dola at all. I got to know about the show after shooting for a few episodes, and I thought that I’d have a look as to what the show is. I feel that our drama is a little on the richer scale so I did not feel like following the Bengali version. I am playing what I feel as an actor and over the period of time, I have established myself as Bhavani kaku.

We have seen through social media platforms that the bond between the cast is very friendly and we do not sense any competition between actors which is a very rare phenomenon…

It is very rare that you see this kind of union and bond and I feel that we give each other good space. We all are very disciplined actors and do not throw tantrums. Everyone is very honest to their work and behaviour. There is no competition as each character is different and has its own graph. We all have a working style and everyone comes prepared on the sets. Even while rehearsal, we have patience and have teamwork. I salute my makers that even during the lockdown, no episode has repeated. There is a lot of humility and humanity on the set for everyone from the cast to the unit members.

Your view on the Takia Kalams you mouth – ‘mast ha mast’ and calling Sayi ‘jungli mulgi’…

The response I receive is amazing for takia kalams. Even the comment boxes on my social media feed have comments about the takia kalams

You are a senior artist and have performed a range of distinguished characters in your journey in the entertainment industry. Do you also give acting tips to your co-actors for enhancing their scenes?

There are actors who take tips on how to perform or enhance a particular scene. There is so much Hindi and nobody speaks so much of Hindi in actual life. It is not our routine, so yes people ask me for help and I happily oblige. Every word has a different pressure and diction and if that changes, the entire tonality of how we are trying to communicate the dialogue changes. So when the cast members ask me, I offer to help. There is a lot of faith and respect between each and every one of us. I too learn a lot from them and I too do not have a complex that I am senior. Our bond and fondness for each other is mutual.

A parting message:

I would like to say that in reel life that dramas are different and much more entertaining so do not let it affect your real-life and enjoy watching Ghum Hai Kiskey Pyaar Meiin!  (Also Read: RIP! Dream Girl actress Ryinku Singh Nikumbh passes away )
