MUMBAI: Often actors build a public perception with the type of characters they play on screen which creates a set image for them in the minds of their viewers.
While these actors might have made an entry on television with a motive to portray diverse characters, their ability to pull off a certain kind of role with utmost finesse, made them the perfect antagonists for makers and viewers alike. Somewhere, along the way to stardom, these antagonists found a way to be good at being bad.
Veteran actor Sai Ballal is one such personality who has been playing the baddie for most of his career on the small as well as big screen with great conviction. In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Sai shared his experience being a part of Ghar Ek Mandir Kripa Agrasen Maharaj Ki on & TV and we got some amazing responses.

How is your experience shooting with show so far?
We have been shooting in Jaipur for last 2 months I suppose and it’s the same thing as in Bombay but the only thing is that when you come back you don’t meet your family.
What new will you bring in this show?
It is a positive role and whatever I have done in past was negative, there is fight between father in law and daughter in law, he is a little orthodox, that females should not go out of the house and work they should only do household chores and this female comes and get married to his younger son which is played by Akshay Mahtre and there is a conflict and this is specifically based on Maharaj Agarsen , the founder of Agarwal community, she is a great devote of Maharaj and she is preaching him.
What made you say yes to the show?
The character because I wanted to get out of that negative bracket and I kept refusing those characters and I got this one and it’s very real and natural.
Did you explore the city?
Not yet, we have been shooting continuously, I have been Bombay 4 days back for Ganesh Chaturthi, my wife is all alone and I came back on 13th right from the airport to the sets.
As an actor how do you make time for your personal life?
When you get into daily soaps it’s very difficult, and when you are shooting in Mumbai it’s a different scenario , you leave work and you are with your family but here after shoot you are back to the hotel and you are seeing same faces and everybody and you miss your family at times.
What is that one thing that nobody knows as a part of your struggling period?
I am a South Indian and Mangalorean to be precise and getting in this itself was a task because at my home we speak typical South Indian Hindi and I am an introvert and at times I pinch myself in front of camera that whether it’s me only and yes theatre polished my Hindi, this was the struggle initially and yes Ekta Kapoor gave me the platform and I thank her for that, she gave me good roles and lead characters .
What was your first salary and how did you earn it?
I was working for my brother in law who was a CA and I completed my graduation and joined him, I wanted to do CA but I couldn’t and I have paid 1000rs per month.
