Neha Marda

MUMBAI: Neha Marda is currently a part of Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti on Zee TV.

She plays the pivotal role of Shubra in the show and in an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, she opened up about her character in the show, her career, personal life, her hobbies, interests, shooting with Balika Vadhu among many other things.

Take a look:

You started your career by breaking the stereotypes so at that time was there any kind of anxiety or nervousness because you’re doing something which is not the ordinary roles…

Honestly when I started my career I was 17 years old and at that point of time for me to acknowledge and to know what is right and what is a stereotype and what is unconventional was not in my mind only. For me getting a show was like a jackpot. My first appearance on the screen and getting a lead role in the show was a high for me in my life at that time. At times I didn’t believe only I can get the lead role so I was like I fit  in the character that’s why I have been selected for the role .Later when you feedback and realise that you have done characters like Ghena and Urmi. So that you feel that makers and the people who are directing you must be that educated and good enough to make you do that. Because at that point of time I didn’t have that kind of maturity to even understand what I was going to do, what they asked me I did it.

Speaking of your current show, Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti, how much do you relate to your character?

I have played many characters but I think Shubra is what I live. I don’t find it challenging for me to work on Shubra because it is as normal as life to work on it. Because she thinks like Neha and she has a life like Neha and the entire marriage setup and entire family setup, the relations. And how I would want my kids to be and how I want them to grow up. So I connect completely with Shubra. Though the situation she is going through, may god doesn’t want me to handle this kind of situation. This extra marital affairs and everything. That is challenging because when you are living the character you start living in the situation. The kind of thoughts Shubra continues in the show I really connect with her.

Speaking about your TV shows and career, there are reports that you might be seen in Bigg Boss, so would you ever do a reality show like Bigg Boss?

Well I absolutely do not talk about whether I am doing it or not. Bigg Boss is one of the biggest shows. I used to think I did not want to do Bigg Boss ever in my life. But things have changed like we say nothing is forever. The look, outlook, the viewers ,the perspective, the audiences and everything has changed. The way to conceive the show has changed. People love being noticed in Bigg Boss. And you can be yourself and report yourself. It is the best to showcase to your fans. So I would never say I don’t want to do the show. I would love to do the show. But this time would you be able to see me that absolutely I will leave as a no comments.

Balika Vadhu has come up with a season 2 so do you miss Balika Vadhu those days when you were shooting?

It was amazing to see the promo. Since you have been a crucial part of the show it feels like you miss the show. Because when it comes to Balika Vadhu there are few 4 to 5 characters which are default you can remember that. So when you can’t see yourself like Balika Vadhu show you just feel why am I not there in the show, this is my show. So Balika Vadhu has a default name attached in it so I think I was one of them. And I am very happy to see a second season. It has come up beautifully. And the promos are looking amazing but I definitely miss myself in the show.

You got married at a very young age so did you face any difficulties, probably a family pressure in getting into industry?

By God’s grace I did not go with any pressure or problems. In fact I want to pressurise myself only because there are certain things that everything should happen at the right time. Although it doesn’t happen. I got married when I was 21 and I was ready for it. And I wanted to get married. There was no force. And now to even make a family and how to grow a family, how to take it further is absolutely my wish. I would want to cherish motherhood very soon but you have things in your hands and projects in your hands so you can't be disloyal to your work also. So commitments always needed to be fulfilled. So far you never know what is in my card next now. Age is definitely a factor which works for a woman to make a life. I think I got married early so I think I have the bonus to make the baby as soon as possible.

Currently how are you balancing your family and work life?

My producer Arvind Babbal, he is not only the maker of the family show but he is also an understandable person who understands family. So at the start when I signed the show I said that every week I need to go to Patna twice a week Saturday and Sunday. But I was really sure that it was a daily soap. And they would not let me and it is not practically possible and all that. I think I am very happy because I am working. Every week I travel to Patna. Every Saturday and Sunday I have my family time. So I don’t think I am missing out on anything.
