EXCLUSIVE! Madalsa Sharma talks about her character Kavya on Star Plus’ Anupamaa, says “I don’t support infidelity per say, but Vanraj and Kavya both had a void in their respective lives”

MUMBAI: Anupamaa is one of the most loved shows on the small screens. The show's TRP has been off the charts ever since the show began. The story and the cast are loved dearly by the audience.

Madalsa Sharma plays the character of Kavya Shah on the show. The character started out a grey shade but has had her own graph and journey and is now a positive one.

She is loved as Kavya and the fans adore her. She is praised a lot for her performance on the show.

Madalsa Sharma made her acting debut in the 2009 Telugu film Fitting Master. She went on to do various south Indian films post that.  Her maiden Bollywood film was Angel in 2011. Later in 2014, her second Hindi film, Samrat & Co released. In 2020, she made her television debut by portraying Kavya Shah in Star Plus's Anupamaa. In December 2021, Chakraborty made her digital debut through a music video.

Tellychakkar recently got in touch with the actress and got to know interesting insights.

You started out as a negative character on the show and now Kavya has completely changed into this positive, caring person.  What do you have to say about the graph or the journey of your character on the show up until now?

“I never consider Kavya's character in Anupamaa as negative. May be in traditional minds or if I may say regressive thinking, find it negative, but in today's life Kavya is an educated, modern, ambitious woman but a victim of circumstances. So she behaves the way she does. So when circumstances change, her character changes too.”

You started out with Vanraj's extra marital affair. How did you feel about playing such a role? What are your thoughts about infidelity?

“I don’t support infidelity per say. But Vanraj and Kavya both had a void in their respective lives, and they filled each other's. This is one of today's very common realities. So viewers accepted it. They all love Kavya like Vanraj.”

How different or similar is Madalsa from Kavya?

“Kavya is a character created by writers' imagination and Madalasa is a living human being. I have my own up-bringing, experience and aspirations. But yes I am a modern, independent and  like minded as Kavya.”
