TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about her absence on TV, how Parvarrish as a show made such an impact on the audience, and more!
You have acted in both films and movies and fans know you from your characters, what would you say is a myth about you that people have in their minds?
That I was too young to act in movies as the main lead. That used to happen to me a lot and I quit TV a long time ago because I was told that TV actors don’t get work in movies. I got very scared because I wanted to do films, and I can’t stick to one character. Even though the love you get from TV is immense and is gratifying, but it’s like you are playing this one character for a very long time and I have so much to give out and explore as an actor. So, I wanted to do films, 4-5 of them and play different characters. I wanted to do it all, so that’s why I left TV.
What is your checklist when you choose a character, what are the things that you look for?
The first is the script. Even when I chose Parvarrish, it was because the show was something very different and brought something fresh. Even with Bade Acche Lagte Hai, it was a rage at that time in our country and for me and my mother. She has a knack of things as to what will go well in my life and my career in general. I was very sure that I wanted to play the teenage part of Pihu. I did not want to play Pihu who grows up into this person who is getting married and having kids when I am only 14. So, it was in my contract as such that I’ll only play the younger version of her, So for me, it's the script and you instantly get to know what’s going to work well for you.
The OTT space is expanding and a lot of hit shows are coming back on OTT. If Parvarrish was to be rebooted for OTT, would you say yes to being a part of it?
Honestly, I haven’t thought about it yet, but it depends on the script because when my Parvarrish came on air, it was a very different show. But there was a part 2, and people did not like it like the first one. I am sorry but they did not go down well with the audience. Despite it being the same concept, it wasn’t received very well.
The actress has been missing in action for a while now, and Aanchal has now opened up about major surgery and a long recovery thereafter, something that the fans were oblivious about all this while.
But after getting surgery done, she is back to her happy self and fans can’t wait to see her back on sets.
