EXCLUSIVE! Shagun Sharma on Sasuraal Genda Phool 2 going off-air within a few months of its launch: We all were well-prepared for it but it hurts a lot to see that it didn't work

MUMBAI: Shagun Sharma is currently seen in Star Bharat's show Sasuraal Genda Phool 2. 

The actress is playing the lead role of Titli in the show. 

Shagun was one of the newest additions to the show's star cast for the second season. 

While the viewers were looking forward to Jay Soni and Shagun's new pairing and were willing to see more of them on-screen, the makers announced Sasuraal Genda Phool 2’s wrap. The show is all set to wrap up within a span of 4 months of its launch. 

The show will air its last episode in mid-April. 

The news of Sasural Genda Phool 2 going off-air came as a huge surprise for the viewers. 

The first season worked wonders while the second season did not get the same response. 

TellyChakkar got in touch with Shagun who spoke at length about the show and much more.

Reaction when the makers announced the show's wrap... 

When we got to know the very first TRP after the launch, we all were prepared that the makers can anytime announce the wrap-up of the show. It becomes very selfish when you only think about yourself. A show is a teamwork, the producer's money is involved, there is an involvement of the channel, and if the show is not giving what the makers, channel and the viewers want, it is bound to go off-air, sooner or later. We all were prepared that this day can come any time. The 0.2 TRP was very constant and it is. But it hurts very badly to see the show wrapping up. I just don't know why people didn't accept it because it had something new. 

Views on show's extension... 

As per my opinion, it would have made no difference. The publicity also matters a lot. Many of them didn't even know about Sasural Genda Phool season 2. Somewhere the lack of publicity was also the reason the show didn't work. There are many aspects for a show to work and to not work. But I feel publicity is something that was lacking and that's why it didn't work in our favour. 

Sceptical about choosing the next project... 

I will not be sceptical or choosy in my future projects. I believe every show has its own fate. It doesn't matter how much it worked. Sometimes good content does not work and sometimes, the silliest thing is being loved by the viewers. I am never going to do a season two of something. It comes with a lot of bashing. People take a lot of time to accept it. Also, we don't get so much time to prove ourselves. There are constant comparisons. An actor works so hard and people simply ignore our efforts. I have learned from my own experience that I should not take up a project whose first season is already made, although I have nothing against the first season of the show.
