With Fitrat, we tried giving out a social message which might change people’s perceptions: Sudhanshu Pandey on his short film

Here’s what Sudhanshu has to say about his new short film titled Fitrat.

MUMBAI: Acclaimed actor and singer Sudhanshu Pandey is taking baby steps into production. The actor donned the hat of a producer for a short film titled Fitrat. He also acted in the same. (Read here: Sudhanshu Pandey: I will always choose smart content over trends)

“When you’re producing a project, it’s like a mother nurturing a baby in her womb and then giving birth to the baby, I feel it’s the same feeling. You have to give your best; you need to be careful about several aspects and that’s what I’ve been doing. Although it’s a short film, it requires an equal amount of passion and hard work and finally, we have a product which is already out on Hungama play. I’m just hoping that my intention of creating something that has a social message and is relevant may help the society change their perspective a little bit is served,” Sudhanshu said.

Sudhanshu will be seen donning a Muslim character in the project. We asked him about his research to ace the role and he said, “The project is directed by Tahir Ali Baig. He is Muslim himself and hence I got to learn the mannerisms first hand from him. We shot for a sequence in a mosque in Hyderabad. The officials there were kind enough to let us shoot. Tahir helped me out with the postures of Namaz and I had to follow each nuance of the same to make my character real and relevant.”

The actor’s look in the project seems to be inspired by Shah Rukh Khan’s in Bollywood movie Raees. Citing it as a coincidence, Sudhanshu added, “It wasn’t a deliberate attempt. The main aim was to convincingly look like the character that I was playing. We gave it quite a traditional touch with my character wearing Kurta- Izaar throughout.”

Fitrat is streaming on Hungama Play.
