No family and friends gathering is complete without a game of antakshari. Reality shows on Indian television blossomed like anything and saw a new high when it hosted Antakshari years back. And now the most loved show will soon see a comeback in a different avatar.
Yes, you have heard it right.
The original creator of the show Saaibaba Telefilms, headed by Gajendra Singh has decided to bring back the game show. And after being aired on channels Zee TV, Star Plus and Star One for all these years, the show will now air on SAB TV.
Shares a source, “The show will start off with families coming together as groups to participate in the competition. For starters the show will have a Gujrati backdrop to add some fun.”
And to make the game of Antakshari more lively and reciprocative, the makers have managed to bring on board two talented personalities as hosts. They are Mantra and Shalmali Kholgade.
Mantra as we know, is already a popular face on TV having been part of shows like Comedy Circus, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. The man has had his share of hosting stint with Zara Nach Ke Dikha, India’s Got Talent and a lot many special events for various channels. As for the hottie crooner Shalmali, she is best known for her songs like Pareshan, Lat lag gayi, Balam Pichkari and more.
“The show will be in a completely different avatar and format. It will have new age rounds and will be fresh and modern in terms of creativity. To top it all, one of the rounds in the show will surely be dedicated to the original antakshari,” informs the source further.
We also wondered if the face of the show Annu Kapoor will be part of the show. “Nothing has been decided on that. Only time will tell,” shares the source on condition of anonymity.
When we buzzed Mantra he shared, “Yes I have been in talks with the show but I will be able to give you a much clearer picture only in a couple of days.”
Shalmali remained unavailable to comment.
Gajendra Singh did not revert to our calls and messages.
A channel spokesperson confirmed the developments.
