Sai Baba Telefilms is all set to produce a dance reality show for Doordarshan (DD).
Yes, the makers of popular singing reality shows like Antakshari, SaReGaMa, Voice Of India, Music Ka Maha Muqqabla and Sur Kshtera enter a new zone with its first dance reality show in Bharat Ki Shaan – Rum Jhum (Indian Dance Vs Non-Indian Dance).
The show will be a battle between two teams which would include Indian dancer’s team and the non-Indian dancer’s team (we are talking about dance forms). The Indian team will be headed by Sandeep Mahavir of Jaipur Gharana and the non-Indian dance team will belong to well known Bollywood choreographer Sandip Soparrkar. They will also be seen judging the show.
The show will also see Guru Shrestha a la DID’s Gransmaster in Dr Sonal Mansingh, who has been honored with Padma Bhusan and Padma Vibhushan. Basically, she will take the final calls on the eliminations with there being no voting system involved here.
The show will be hosted by the very suave looking Shweta Salve.
Interestingly, Gajendra Singh’s daughter, a BBA pass out, will be handling the marketing and the execution part of the project. She has been working on the show for the past six months.
Answering our question on social networking strategy of the production for Rum Jhum she said, “We are already on Twitter and Facebook, the fans are following Rum Jhum. We plan to keep updating the fans on the personalities getting involved with the series. So basically there are a lot of things that are happening.”
The production house plans to get eminent personalities from art and entertainment on their show as producer Gajendra Singh averred, “We wouldn’t be calling celebrities to just promote their upcoming films on our show but, we’ll call personalities like Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi who would add some value. We have a lot of other names on our mind but wouldn’t want to reveal them yet.”
Their production team has auditioned for talented dancers all across India and selected their final 40 who will perform on the show.
Rum Jhum airs from 14 October 2013 every Monday and Tuesday at 10 pm.
