MUMBAI: In arena of female centric shows slaying it on television, Discovery Communications launched a new Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) - Discovery JEET with a different vision. The broadcast network came up with a series of male centric shows.
However, their strategy was not too impressive and the channel decided to pull of shows in an attempt to re-evaluate programming strategy.
One such show was Gabru - The origin of Hip Hop. Produced by Still and Still Media Collective, the story revolved around the lives of three distinct protagonists and dealt with the trials and tribulations of a Punjabi Hip Hop King, who at the peak of his career faced a threat from a rival rapper, who also happens to be his ex-flame.
What do you think of Gabru?
Happy that the show is back, Parag Chadha, who handled the casting for Gabru said, “Well, there was a lot of money spent for Gabru. We needed actors who could deliver a one frame shot and I am glad that the show is back and gets the justice it deserves. We have put in a lot of effort and I am really happy that Gabru is back. ”
Shedding some light on his other projects, Parag averred, “I am working on some new projects which I cannot talk about at the moment. However, Tamanna was yet another project we worked very hard on for Viu. The challenge here was that we needed people who are not only good actors but excellent dancers too! We explored street dancers and talents from dance academies. I am casting yet another one for Alt Balaji. All the three shows are of different genres and that’s the beauty of my profession.”
Kudos and good luck, Parag!
